LFW: House of Holland SS17

10 years in business! Cheers to Henry Holland this season.

Picnic Party

Tea and cake anyone? Prepare to feel extra fancy with Henry Holland’s frilly, feminine and tea time inspired collection for SS17. The designer’s collection was heavily influenced by frolicking in the park and chilling out with a nice little picnic. A majority of the pieces featured girly gingham, which was used in everything from midi skirts to dresses and even contributed to a showstopping picnic blanket-esque coat. Henry took a standard pattern that we’re all familiar with and transformed it into a super sultry, ladylike and quirky set of garms.

Mesh It Up

All the femininity of the collection was broken up with the coolest mesh, giving the collection a streetwear vibe. The mesh was used as a layering piece under the most sensual of dresses for ultimate contrast, as well as creating whole pieces like maxi dresses and skirts.

Formal Floral

Floral patterns were all over HOH’s catwalk, bursting with colour and sass. The designer contrasted sweet florals with elegant formal dresses and gowns, making the print ultra sophisticated. Keeping with the family-day-in-the-park theme, the floral dresses had hints of white lace details. We all know that a fancy tea isn’t complete without lace doilies of course. A Henry Holland show wouldn’t feel right without a little bit of tounge-in-cheek. To finish off the show with a bang, the show honoured their 10th anniversary with a killer throwback. The models walked down the runway in HOH’s signature slogan tees, plastered with the brand’s typical cheeky rhyming slogans playing on each model’s name. “Let’s breed Bella Hadid”? Don’t mind if we do.
