NikeLab × Stone Island Windrunner

Get your hands on iconic and fresh NikeLab x Stone Island’s Windrunners.

Whether you’re an athletic runner, a B-boy, or even a regular citizen, there’s no doubt that you’re familiar with Windrunners.

The Nike windrunner was first introduced in 1979, and was Nike’s first venture into athletic outerwear. The jacket was designed to balance form, function and style, with its distinct colours and practical features. As every runner will know, when it comes to clothing, they don’t typically require much. However what they do need is protection from the harsh elements. And if anything was going to fit those requirements, it would be the miraculous Nike Windrunner.

Three years after Nike’s successful jacket was introduced, the Italian brand Stone Island hit the scene. The brand became known for their innovative use of fabrics, dying techniques and military and workwear inspired pieces. Eventually, Stone Island started to create technical jackets that were ideal for everyday use. Noticing a pattern? The two brands came together in an initial Nike x Stone Island collaboration and this week sees them drop the second instalment, none other than the famous Windrunner. You can expect the same fabric quality and vivid Windrunner colorblocking that we’ve all come to know and love. The jacket is as sturdy and resistant as ever, being made out of two nylons – Hyper Light Membrana and Membrana 3L TC. What all of those confusing words essentially mean is that the jacket can fight off wind and water, transforming you into a weather-resistant machine.

Additionally, have you ever got tired of carrying your jacket around? Ever wish you could just fit your jacket into your bag and be done with it? Well now you get two for the price of one! The design of the Windrunner means that it’s able to be packed into its own left pocket and then conveniently transformed into a handy dandy bag, complete with an attachable strap. The future is here people, and it’s Nike x Stone Island.
