Just a 5-minute walk from Green Park station is a safe haven of magical luxury. Being mere footsteps away from Buckingham Palace and Big Ben, it’s no wonder that this hotel makes you feel like absolute royalty. Located in sleek, chic Mayfair, visiting the heart of London is exactly the push you need to remind you exactly why London is one of the world’s greatest cities.
One step into the Chesterfield Mayfair Lobby and you’re greeted by its impeccable decor, beautifully lit by a decadent chandelier hanging in the centre of the room. The combination of the scarlet colour scheme, the leather seats, hanging drapes and various lush greenery were very reminiscent of Poirot. It gives off the impression of vintage British glamour and the lifestyle of the well-to-do British citizens of the past. The grandiosity of the hotel made you feel like high society, yet somehow simultaneously very at home.
Excitingly, there were two new bar offerings available. An interactive Whisky Nosing and Tasting Experience and a menu of unique Molecular Cocktails. Served in the Terrace Bar, which is set up like a club but much more intimate and extravagant. The whisky comes served on a tray crafted from the wood of the original whisky barrels. An informative expert guides you through the extensive and captivating history of each individual whisky. There were three different Whisky Nosing and Tasting Experience‘s on offer. Starting with Around the World, which offers exactly what it says on the tin, as it takes you on a journey through the finest whiskies from all over the world. Next is Scottish Adventure, for those who wish to explore Scotland’s take on whisky.
Last but certainly not least is the Macallan & Chocolate Pairing, which lets you try quality malt whisky from Macallan, paired with an exclusive selection of chocolates chosen especially for the Chesterfield Mayfair. Meanwhile, the groundbreaking Molecular Cocktails mix science and beverages into one mind blowing cocktail. The Molecular Cocktails use molecular gastronomy, along with shaping a liquid into spheres to concoct the most spectacular and delicious drinks. Alternatively, the Gin & Tonic Experience was also available, but by then it was probably responsible to call it quits for the night.
In celebration of Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday, the hotel has honoured him with the Charlie & The Chesterfield Afternoon Tea. Already famous for their Afternoon tea, they have upped their game by crafting a tea fit for Willy Wonka himself. There is a medley of chocolate Wonka bars and Oompa Loompa cupcakes to enjoy, alongside a fantastic traditional afternoon tea selection, such as scones and sandwiches.
Sound too good to be true? You haven’t heard about the rooms yet. The Classic Double Room was opulent, cosy and gorgeous all at the same time. Equipped with the hotel room essentials (we would know), The Chesterfield leaves you wanting for nothing. Decorated to the theme of terracotta and fit for a king, the room was luxuriously sized — even space to jump on the bed in ‘Quelle Pleasure’ excitement, should you so desire. The most anticipated part of this experience was being able to call it a day, as lying on that plush bed was enough to catapult you into the sweetest of dreams after a day of wondrous recreation.
