Premiere: Swedish Death Candy – "So Long..."

Listen to Swedish Death Candy’s intoxicating new 16 minute single – premiering right here on Wonderland.

With only one demo EP until their belt, psychedelic rock band Swedish Death Candy still managed to get mentions in NME, and receive some major love from The Fader. This just goes to show the buzz surrounding this group of 20-somethings from London. Featuring members from Britain, South Korea and Italy, their influences range far and wide. But comparisons with Sleep, Bo Ningen and The Doors ring most true; though the band are certainly developing their own distinctive sound. New music has finally arrived in the form of single, “So Long…” taken from their forthcoming EP.

The most unusual thing about this hypnotic track is its length. At 16 minutes long, Swedish Death Candy are really spoiling us. The track starts by lulling you into a false sense of security, with its melodic beat and relaxed, hazy style, until the first riff comes in during the second minute (in very dramatic style). “So Long…” manages to be guitar-heavy rock tune, littered with occasional vocals, whilst still keeping its trippy sound. Finishing off the song in style, a huge harmony enters at the 14 minute mark, before ending with the guitar solo to end all guitar solos. So get lost in this lengthy track, which somehow maintains a nostalgic tone in a heavy-psych tune.
