Watch the weirdly wonderful new video from Gallo exclusively here.
We don’t know a lot about Gallo yet – and that’s the way she wants it. The enigmatic new singer-songwriter is set to storm the charts (and our hearts) with her hyper-glam vision and off-beat Pop sound. Born to Lebanese parents, she spent her childhood in the Middle East before coming to age in Hollywood, which might well have some part to play in her unique aesthetic: a warped, Lynchian take on movie-star beauty that’s fully explored in her latest release, “Truth or Dare”.
Premiering exclusively on Wonderland, the video (directed by London-based filmaker Nadia Lee Cohen) is a wonderfully twisted narrative that sees Gallo hitchhiking in a killer red outfit before things get seriously weird – and that’s all we’re giving away. With its cinematic sensibilities, “Truth or Dare” is begging to be interpreted a hundred times over and it’s probably one of the best vids we’ve seen in a while, not least because Soki Mak (queen of this warped bubblegum look) is on styling duties. All this is to say nothing of the track, which is an addictive little alt-Pop number you’ll be sticking on repeat for the rest of the week. Watch this space, we are.
