Boils and Ghouls

“Hello Boils and Ghouls” was how Ashley Williams addressed the press in her AW16 release. Previous Williams collections have been all about the girls: pink, fun and sex. For AW16, things took a turn for the androgynous. Williams’ signature girlish charm was still evident, duh, but this season we got to see tailoring and oversized outerwear, including a baseball jacket emblazoned with “tazer” and lightning bolts, a motif throughout the show.

A Shock In The Dark

It wouldn’t be Ashley Williams without some fluoro now would it? Last season we saw bright pink and blood red clash together, AW16 was the turn of acid green alongside that same shade of pink. Two leather shift dresses mixed things up nicely between a rather more grown up collection. Plus Williams did matching bags with metallic ring handles, remember like those everyone had ten years ago? Some things shouldn’t stay in the past.

Pierced Ears

The slogan on Williams’ invite wasn’t so much a reference to punk years gone by but more about the spikiness, the sharp excitement that exudes from a woman in power. Silhouettes were clean, colours were bold, this collection is about being proud and loud about it. Pristine white boots, gem jewellery the size of your eyeballs and electric taser flashing prints, there’s no being subtle for AW16.
