NYFW: SCOTCH & SODA AW16

A dress for every occasion and location, Scotch & Soda debuted at NYFW with a collection for the traveller.

First Things First

Making their NYFW debut, Scotch & Soda showed their AW16 “Wondrous Wanderers” collection. The Amsterdam based brand claims to be “inspired by the world” so it’s no surprise that their first Fashion Week scheduled show took on ideas from every corner of the Earth. With 150 stores already, this first official New York show moves the commercially successful company onto the high fashion stage.

Two-Faced

The AW16 line showed for men and women and four “characters” from four locations. Taking inspiration from China, Norway, Tibet and Scotland, the collection is a vibrant mesh of the traditions of each place. Silk pyjama pants sit alongside woven ponchos and heavy cords. The abundant but jubilant clash of colours and prints was reminiscent of the new waves Alessandro Michele is making at Gucci, which can only be a good thing.

Folklore

Sure, influence from everywhere stated was visible, but the strongest theme was a folkish boho vibe. Even translated onto streetwear pieces like bomber jackets, embroidery and floral details ran throughout. Tassels, loose shapes and a autumnal palette of claret black and khaki were all key and for that we couldn’t be more grateful. Wearable, accessible and beautiful, Scotch & Soda entered the NYFW arena on a high.
