PREMIERE: MIND ENTERPRISES – “IDEALISTIC”

We’ve got a premiere for you courtesy of the Future-Disco extraordinaire, Mind Enterprises.

Get to know Mind Enterprises, the East London based, Turin born, musician making beautifully well-orchestrated Future-Funk. Also known as Andrea Tirone, he came to London in 2012 after feeling “a bit stuck” in the Italian alternative scene. After releasing his EP, My Girl, (which he produced in his home-studio) in 2013 he began to feel a bit directionless and took some well-needed chill out time to prepare for his new album – due early next year. In this period he focused on using live instruments rather than software sounds and found new inspiration in the form of Afro-funk, explaining, “that was the key to start exploring, I started listening to a lot of Afro-funk from Nigeria and Ghana, and after that my way of composing changed drastically.”

This new sound is brilliantly exhibited in Tirone’s latest video, “Idealistic”, which we’re pleased to be premiering. It’s like a super-listenable blend of William Onyeabor’s West African disco and Todd Terje’s pulsating electro with a bit of Metronomy thrown in for good measure, and the results are truly addictive. Then there’s the video itself, which looks like a low-budget promotional film for a Buddhist meditation course – think inspirational messages, brightly coloured nature shots and, of course, synchronized dancing. In other words, Tirone doesn’t take himself too seriously, which is always a good thing.
