PFW: Kenzo AW15

A lust worthy array of accessories and super luxe fabrics, Kenzo took wearable sports functionality onto the catwalk for AW15.

The Kenzo Collective

“For our fall-winter collection for Kenzo we celebrate a collective. We explore togetherness through camaraderie, ceremony and protection. Their abode is the wild, their refuge forgets through their friendship with the surrounding trees and forest.”

Taking things back to the Kenzo Takada days, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon’s collection for AW15 was print-heavy, with an overall air of sports functionality meets luxe fabrics and finishings. Think draped capes, jackets with volume, regal jacquards, bright bomber jackets, boucle embroidery, funnel necklines that engulf the wearer and finely tailored silk suiting; all appropriated in a colour palette of burgundy, emerald, burnt orange and yellow and black.

The Space

In a warehouse space out of the city, a glittering silver metallic wall advanced towards the audience the moment the show started, before splitting into five individual blocks that danced around the space to the sound of Saint Etienne performing live at the show. The models marched the perimeter of the huge square space, many faces concealed by hats that morphed into scarves, each model’s look complete with a thick slick of white eyeliner.

Accessories Aplenty

From emerald and white cross body leather backpacks, suede biker style bucket bags and roomy travel bags in an electrifying shade of cornflower blue, to platform python chelsea boots in ruby red, the Kenzo AW15 accessories were lust worthy to say the least. We’ll take a pair of those black silk trousers with the green stripe go-faster stripe, a black leather and emerald shearling jacket and a pair of platform shoes to boot.
