PFW: BALENCIAGA AW15

Reviving cuts and silhouettes synonymous with Cristóbal Balenciaga, Wang was defining opulence at Balenciaga AW15.

Ultra-Opulent

Wang created his own world of luxury by redefining opulence for AW15; excess in shape and quality – this was a show of wealth and exquisite crafts ship. With silhouettes and cuts synonymous to the Cristobal Balenciaga days, dresses came in thick tweeds, laced with chain mail, each fold in the fabric a luxurious nod to the storied history of the house. The AW15 Balenciaga girls wore their hair elegantly swept back, ready for afternoon tea or a debutant ball complete with pearls and finery from head to toe. We’re head over heels for Balenciaga AW15.

Culture Clash

Heavy tweeds, thick wools, leather bondage style harnesses, mink fur and metal fastenings galore,  the Balenciaga collection was a mash up of old and new. Edie Campbell sported a heavily embellished coat and skirt combination for the hard hitting girls not afraid to slow dance with studs on their belts.

Shape Shifter

Exaggerated hips, cinched in waistlines, deep plunging necklines and halter cuts – Balenciaga AW15 was all about shapes. Peplums and cocoon coats provided sculptural genius, amplifying the curvature of the female form. Each exquisite piece looks best worn with a crystal encrusted ‘CB’ lettered brooch and a pair of diamond adorned pointed-toe crested shoes. Who wouldn’t want to be head to toe in Balenciaga this AW15?
