MFW: Dolce & Gabbana SS15

Dolce & Gabbana SS15 is all about the heritage of the Spanish culture on Sicily’s history, a red and white army lead by Kendall Jenner

Heritage

Drawing inspiration from the heritage of Spanish culture on Sicily’s history, Dolce & Gabbana SS15 was a wash of rich red and pure white, peppered with intricate embellishments, ornate embroideries and subtle masculine-meets-feminine juxtapositions.

Sacred Heart

The main symbol of the collection, the sacred heart, was found embroidered on most pieces in particular the scarlet structured embroidered knicker-shorts worn by sixty five models in the finale of the show, lead by none other than Kendall Jenner. Also making an appearance in the collection was the carnation flower, not only because of its intrinsic link to Spanish tradition, but also as a tribute to Mr. Dolce’s mum, as it was her favorite flower.

The Dolce & Gabbana woman

The SS15 woman is a temptress, a stung, seductive and passionate woman who mirrors an eruption of Sicily’s Etna volcano. She’s sexy whilst sophisticated, showing her womanly shape and proportions – teaming form fitting bottoms with a bullfighter shirt, bolero jackets with mini-hotpants and feminine rose dresses with chunky boots – her style sits on the perfect line between masculinity and femininity. Mr. Dolce and Mr. Gabbana’s challenge was to convey the Spanish influence in a non-conventional and literal way and their resulting collection is one full of love, joy and sex appeal.
