London Fashion Week is here! Princess Julia gives us a London Fashion week preview from some of her most loved designers.
As fashion week is fast approaching we sent the fabulous, Princess Julia, down to some of her favourite designer’s studios to get an insight into their S/S 2014 collections. Today Julia catches up with James Long to talk about his womenswear collection.
‘They’re only clothes’, James Long rather modestly said to me not so long ago on the verge of his last menswear collection. ‘But what clothes!’ I thought to myself as I left his studio. This season James Long continues his womenswear journey with a theme of casual glamour, high octane fabrics and embroidery with an easy to wear vibe
This season ‘Miss Long’ is very much ‘Mr Longs wife’. ‘It’s a collection that we feel passionate about that goes alongside the mens’. There’s always a lot of intricate detail in the house of Long, a glorious concoction intertwined with ribbon, colour and shape. Texture on texture, Long never disappoints, with an exacting eye he shows me the cut of a skirt, the way the fabric lends itself to form the clothes we want to wear. Oh and by the way did I mention the new sunglasses. They’ve collaborated with Culter and Gross for some spectacular specs, want, need, want!
Pushing the proverbial envelope, instead of a womenswear catwalk show or installation this season, they will be opening the doors to their salon for exclusive presentations, ‘We’re interested in traveling, reaching out, and showing the rest of the world what we’re all about’. They plan trips to Dubai, Japan and Paris… so you better watch out, James Long is coming to a city near you!
